These challenges are play based, just as our Nursery pupils learn in school.

 

Spring term 2 2021

 

Week 1 W/C 22.2.21

 

Our new topic is ‘Jump into Spring’ so the activities are all based around this.

Our story this week is called, ‘When will it be Spring?’. It is all about a bear who is ready to come out of his hibernation and is looking for signs of Spring. Here is a video of the story.

Can you make a bear? You could use play dough, crayons or maybe you could make a bear out of your handprints with paint.

Go for a walk and search for signs of Spring? You could look for snowdrops or daffodils starting to grow, maybe you will hear birds singing or leaves beginning to grow on trees.

Can you decorate a biscuit to look like a bear? You could use icing or jam with chocolate buttons or raisins for eyes.

Practise counting to 5. You could do 5 jumps, 5 claps, 5 giant steps.

Can you find 5 teddy bears in your house?

Spring 2021 

 

Week 1

Can you draw a picture of your favourite present from Father Christmas?

It’s very cold outside can you have a look at the different signs of Winter? What do the trees look like? What patterns can you see on the windows and on the paths when it is frosty?

Can you fill a bucket or a cup with water and put it outside, what has happened to it in the morning? What happens when you bring it inside?

Week 2

Our topic this half term is called ‘What can I Build’, all of our stories and activities will be linked to building different things.

Did you like it? Can you retell the story of the hedgehog’s journey to find a home to someone?

How many different birds and animals can you see in your garden or whilst out during a walk?

Can you build a home for the hedgehog? You could do it outside using leaves and twigs or maybe inside using cushions, boxes or paper.

Can you build a house that is too strong for the wolf to blow down? You could try using lego, blocks or sticks or maybe you have a different idea?

Can you find 3 things from around your home, maybe 3 cars, 3 books, 3 pigs?

Using 3 blocks or 3 strips of paper, how many ways can you make 3? Remember how we do it in nursery with cubes or fingers, it could be 2 and 1, 0 and 3. How many ways can you find?

 

Week 4 w/b 25.1.21

 

This week we are going to look at Noah’s Ark. Here is a video of the story for you to watch.

Can you make a rainbow? You could use paints, crayons or chalks or you could even use your socks to

make a sock rainbow! Outside, you could make a rainbow using stones, leaves and sticks.

Can you find things around your house that will float in water? You could test them in your bath or in a

bowl.

Can you have a go at singing along to the song? Practise counting on your fingers as you watch and sing.

Can you move around your house like the animals in the video, just like we sometimes do in PE? You could jump like the kangaroo or fly like the bumblebee.

Week 5 W/C 1.2.21

Bob and his friends made a tunnel for the hedgehogs to help them cross the road safely.

Can you make your own tunnel using tubes? What can you send through your tunnel?

Can you make a hedgehog? You could use playdough and dried spaghetti or a potato and cocktail sticks.

 

Could you build the hedgehog a home? You could use Lego, blocks, Duplo or junk model materials. You could even build them a home outside using sticks and pebbles.

Can you practise crossing the road safely when you go for a walk? Maybe you could practise crossing the road at home with your cars and a teddy.

Week 6 W/C 8.2.21

 

This week it is Chinese New Year. Watch these videos to find out more.

Can you make up your own dragon dance? You could move all around the house and garden, maybe the people you live with could follow behind you?

In China, people use chopsticks to eat with, can you try picking things up with chopsticks? If you haven’t got any chopsticks you could use 2 sticks from outside.

Can you make a dragon mask? Make it as colourful as you can, you could use a paper plate or some card.

Why don’t you try tasting some different food this week? You could taste some Chinese food, maybe noodles, prawn crackers or sweet and sour chicken. Can you draw a picture of the food you enjoyed?

Next week it is Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day. Why don’t you help a grown up mix the batter for some pancakes then you can watch them cook before tasting them. What toppings will you choose?

 

AUTUMN 2020 Home Learning

  • We are doing activities based on Bonfire Night this week.
  • Can you make some firework noises with things around your house? Maybe you could tap a spoon on a saucepan or rustle a bag? How many different noises can you make?
  • Can you build a pretend bonfire in your garden? You could use sticks and colourful leaves that have fallen from the trees.

 

Week 3

This week in Nursery we are celebrating Diwali.

Can you draw around your hand and decorate it with your own Mendhi patterns? You could use crayons, paints or felts. Can you make it look colourful?
