Reading @ Dawley

Reading @ Dawley
We follow the RWI phonics programme in school. This begins in Reception, develops through KS1 and into KS2. The Fresh Start Programme is used for upper KS2 pupils when needed. Please take a look at the RWI website, listed below, for further information.
We have a full range of phonetically decodable Oxford Reading Tree books for children to read in the Academy, e.g. Floppy’s Phonics, Songbirds, Project X and Traditional Tales. We have supplemented these with some phonetically decodable RWI books. Throughout both of these schemes there is a wide range of fiction, non-fiction and poetry. We also pay for an online subscription. Children can access the online texts through the website link below by entering the username and password.
We are developing our library area in the Academy so that children have plenty of inviting spaces to select and share books in.
We also have a variety of volunteers who give up their time to come in and listen to our pupils read. We are always looking for parent volunteers so if you are interested please contact the Academy office.
